Description

Our safari lodge and chalets are completely off the grid, allowing visitors the opportunity to unwind and enjoy the serenity of the reserve.  Built of natural materials, which serve to enhance the landscape, we harness the power of the sun through solar energy; hot water is provided through propane tanks discreetly situated at each chalet.

Chalets are thoughtfully designed and equipped to offer the traveller the comforts of home; screened windows allow for natural airflow while allowing the visitor to enjoy a multitude of birdsong.  A mini coffee/tea station, with a camp stove, hot water kettle, French press, a selection of tea and filtered coffee is provided, as is bottled drinking water.  Each chalet contains an en suite bathroom with flush toilets and a shower.

The main lodge is comprised of a kitchen, bar and dining room, as well as several large communal areas, both indoor and out; an expansive viewing deck overlooks the reserve and the ridgeline of the Vredefort Dome.  Don’t be surprised to see nyala sauntering up to the kitchen door for a snack or an impala or two, serenely passing by your chalet!

A Boma area with deck chairs and a fire pit offers guests returning from a late afternoon safari the perfect location to enjoy a warm fire, an appetizer and a cocktail or two as they witness an indescribable view of the night sky.

The lodge kitchen provides a combination of continental and South African cuisine. Meals are served buffet style; however, if guests have dietary restrictions, we are happy to accommodate those needs. Various South African wines and beer are served at Sundowners and Dinners.
